In April 2016 we held our first ‘One Family One Faith’ celebration service at Heeley Parish Church and it was a great event! We are very blessed at Heeley to have a church family made up of people from around the world, including India and Nepal, and yesterday’s service celebrated the different cultures and languages we share.
The service was a celebration of language and culture and of the united family we are in Christ. For the first time, our Nepalese and English worship teams combined and throughout the service we lifted our praises to God in multiple languages. We were treated to a traditional Indian song, as well as a Nepalese song and dance. Pastor Samuel, our Nepalese pastor, brought us a wonderful message about our purpose in God. He also shared his powerful testimony with us. The younger members of our church learned about how even though we might be from different countries and speak in different languages, we are one body in Christ. They even learned to find Bible verses using numbers from another language!
It was an uplifting and empowering service enjoyed by over 100 people. The celebration and friendship continued with a family feast of mega proportions. We had it all, from scrumptious Nepalese food, to authentic Indian curry to a traditionally British Shepherd’s Pie – all followed by cake, of course!
Thanks to all who came to the service and all who were involved: we are so thankful for the colourful, generous and loving family we are in Christ!
